We believe that good design takes recognition of site and orientation, reflecting the context of a building's location and surroundings. This, coupled with technical expertise and established liaison with Local Authority officers and other building consultants, ensures that we are well equipped to guide our clients through their whole project.
mi architects provides a full and flexible range of architectural services including initial assessment and design, planning and building warrant applications, obtaining tenders and monitoring the builder's contract and programme through to completion.
Whatever the size or scope of your project, whether you are looking for a traditional or contemporary style, mi architects can assist you to maximise its potential.
A client's requirements are fundamental in any project, whatever the size or budget. We have built up a reputation of providing a friendly, professional service and being approachable and sympathetic to the needs of our clients.
mi architects was launched in May 2013 by Margot Stoddart and Iona Currie.
Both partners are Chartered Architects and the practice is a Chartered Practice registered with the Royal Incoproration of Architects in Scotland. We are based in Dornoch and currently work out of Iona's home, which she designed and built.
Margot and Iona will collaborate with you to ensure your building realises your expectations and aspirations.
Margot took the part-time studying route through architecture gaining her BArch from the Mackintosh School of Architecture, Glasgow and DipArch from RIBA Examination in Architecture course administered by Oxford Brookes University. She has worked in a variety of large and small private practices in Glasgow, Invergordon and Tain and spent a few years working for Comhairle nan Eilean Siar in Benbecula.
She lives in Dornoch with her husband, teenagers and dogs and can often be found wandering on the golf course wishing she could play better.
Iona studied architecture at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh then went on to work at Dumfries and Galloway Council and a Dumfries based housing developer before deciding to practice as a sole practitioner while her two children were young.
Since moving to Sutherland in 2008 she has worked with Margot in a small private practice in Tain.
She lives in Dornoch with her husband, 2 children and 2 dogs. Of a weekend she enjoys exploring the wide open spaces of the North Highlands, preferably on foot, although she can easily be tempted back inside with the offer of a warm fire, popcorn and a good movie.
